No more tampons? We're calling it: Period-proof underwear is the future.

Did you know that collectively all menstrual bleeders contribute 66lbs of annual sanitary waste that takes 400+ years to degrade?
I have a simple solution to this problem and the answer is menstrual underwear. I’m sure you’ve seen the ads while scrolling through Instagram and if you haven’t, keep reading.
Period underwear is an eco-friendly alternative to pads or tampons that can, generally speaking, absorb a minimum of 3 regular tampons worth of blood. With several brands launching different shapes using this new, ultra-absorbent fabric technology, the options are growing daily.
Absorbent period underwear can be washed and reused many times. I’ve always worn one pair per day - as opposed to wearing a tampon or pad but some folks prefer to wear the period underwear as a back up protection layer.
Menstrual underwear is great for wearers who have allergies to regular tampons, pads, etc. (like myself) and wearers who suffer from endometriosis and feel uncomfortable wearing tampons (also me). A lot of the brands that sell period underwear also stock a boxer style undergarment which is inclusive for trans, genderqueer and non-binary folks or anyone who wants a fuller coverage.
How many times have you been about to get down and dirty with a partner and you’re on your period? You rush to the bathroom to pull out your tampon and hope the spark is still there when you’ve ran back into the bedroom? With period underwear, you literally just take off your underwear and get down with your partner. And we’re all about finding new ways to improve your sex-life and feel good about yourself.
And when you’re done with your menstrual underwear for the day? You simply throw them in the wash instead of throwing tampons into landfills. Switching to period underwear has been the biggest game changer for me. Try it for yourself and thank me later.
